Team Peugeot TOTAL reveal new DAKAR challenger

New Dakar Challenger

The latest Lion with a voracious appetite for the challenges that await it!

The muscular, thoroughbred yet beastlike forms of the Peugeot 2008 DKR provide a vivid indication of the new car’s serious desire for success. It is behind the wheel of this purpose-designed machine that Carlos Sainz and Cyril Despres will defend the colors of Team Peugeot Total on next January’s Dakar.

Three weeks after the exciting news that Peugeot, Red Bull and Total have decided to join forces to contest the 2015 Dakar, the car that will spearhead the team’s challenge has finally broken cover. The 2008 DKR shares an unmistakable family resemblance with Peugeot’s road-going crossover, albeit with more muscular forms and more imposing overall proportions that have been honed to meet the challenge that lays ahead. Its spectacular lines are the fruit of close cooperation between the experts at Peugeot’s Style Centre and their colleagues at Peugeot Sport’s Design Department, and the newcomer’s likeness with the production version is quite astonishing!

TOTAL QUARTZ INEO FIRST 0W-30: the result of a close relationship with PSA.

Quartz Ineo

TOTAL Nordic launches a new Low SAPS engine lubricant with fuel economy attributes: TOTAL QUARTZ INEO FIRST 0W-30. The oil has been developed in close cooperation with PSA technical departments and motorists and is now directly delivered from TOTAL Lubrifiants blendings to PSA car assembly lines. TOTAL is now the unique engine oil supplier for PSA and its products are chosen to equip all engines of brand new PEUGEOT and CITROEN vehicles, whether the engines are gasoline or Diesel-powered*.

Several reasons justify this technical advance achieved by TOTAL QUARTZ INEO FIRST 0W-30:

  • The best engine protection measured on official PSA engine tests against wear and soot build up
  • 4.2% fuel savings compared with a 5W-40 oil in compliance with the ACEA A3/B4 standard: reduction of Fuel consumption represents more than 1.000 km driven for each oil drain**
  • The reduction of pollutant emission by protecting anti-pollution devices
  • The reduction of CO2 emission of 6g / km (when the best tires manufacturers claim 4!)
  • Very long lasting performance and reliability for all engine parts

Not only PEUGEOT and CITROËN have chosen this new engine oil to equip their engine from the plant, but they also recommend this oil for service-fill. TOTAL QUARTZ INEO FIRST 0W-30 is the first and only oil to be homologated PSA B71 2312 for after-sales and is already officially recommended in all new car owner’s manual. Maintaining the vehicles with the very same engine oil used in factory fill is the best way to secure all vehicles performances along the years and will also help keeping car maintenance budget and fuel consumption as low as possible.

The first GP of a new area took place this week end in Melbourne.  With the new F1 design, regulations and the new sound (V6 turbo hybrid engine), it has been a difficult race week end for TOTAL drivers. –however, we did experience fantastic performances from the local hero Daniel Ricciardo and Inifiniti RedBull Racing. Unfortunatly, Ricciardo was disqualified after the race due to technical issues with the estimated fuel consumption. In general, it was a race to forget for Sebastian Vettel, who had to give up and box the car in the 5th lap. It was the same situation for Lotus F1 drivers, Romain Grosjean and Pastor Maldonado, even if they could manage some good laps before technical issues forced them to with draw from finish the race. We are looking forward to the second round in Malaysia where a more stable engine performance hopefully will allow all the drivers to finish the race with good results. (march 28-30th)                                                                   Additional info about the 2014 Formula 1 season
